There is something special about food when it is shared in a relaxed setting.

I’ve spent many years in the kitchen... making pizza, preparing sauces, working with fresh ingredients and trying to make every dish just a little better. Over the years, I’ve learned something important:

The best part of food isn’t always what’s on the plate. It’s who is sitting around the table.

Food has a way of bringing people together like nothing else.

A pizza comes out of the oven, someone takes a bit of the first slice, and suddenly the conversation begins. Someone tells a story. Someone starts laughing. Another person reaches across the table for another piece. Before you know it, hours have passed.

That’s what I love about food.

It creates moments.

Some of my favourite memories aren’t about elaborate meals. They’re the simple ones... good friends gathered around a table, family coming together, plates being passed around, glasses raised, and everyone enjoying each other’s company.

Because food just tastes better when you’re sharing it with people you care about.

Maybe it’s a Sunday dinner with family. Maybe it’s pizza with friends after a long day. Maybe it’s sitting outside on a summer evening, enjoying something simple while the conversation carries on well after the meal is finished.

Those are the moments we remember.

As a chef, I have the privilege of preparing food for people every day. I never take that for granted. When someone tells me they enjoyed a pizza, that makes me happy.

But when I look across our lounge and see a family laughing together, or a group of friends sharing food and stories, I know that what we’re really serving is something much bigger than pizza.

We’re creating an opportunity for people to connect.

Food has always been at the heart of Italian culture for me. We don’t just cook because we need to eat. We cook because food is an expression of love, hospitality and togetherness.

You make too much.

You invite one more person.

You put another plate on the table.

And somehow, there is always enough.

That’s the magic of gathering around food.

Life can get busy. Everyone has work, responsibilities, schedules and places they need to be. That’s why I think it’s so important to slow down every once in a while.

Put the phone away.

Pull up a chair.

Share a meal.

Tell a story.

Laugh a little louder.

And enjoy the people sitting beside you.

Because years from now, we may not remember exactly what we ate.

But we’ll remember who we ate it with.

So the next time you’re enjoying a pizza, a bowl of pasta, a Sunday dinner or simply a cup of coffee with someone you love, take a moment to appreciate it.

Good food is wonderful.

But good food shared with good friends and family?

That’s something special.

And to me, that’s what food has always been about.

Bringing people together, one table at a time.
